Journey with Juliette: Introducing our latest contributor!

We are back this week with another one of our fantastic new contributors, Juliette! Juliette has successfully lost 40 lbs and will be sharing her journey as she works toward her goal. She is an avid runner, traveller and someone who I think we can all relate to. Please join me in giving Juliette and BIG welcome for having the courage to put herself out there and share her journey with you all.

I recently was forward the request for contributors from a friend of mine who thought I would be a perfect person to share my story, experiences, goals, as well as help inspire others. I admit she is right and I will talk to anyone who will listen about what I have accomplished, what I am trying to accomplish and how I am doing it.
So who am I? That is an excellent question and one I am still figuring out on my journey of weight loss. The basics are I am 36, getting ready to turn 37 at the end of the month. I live in Georgia and tend to travel quite a bit for work. I never was heavy as a child for I was extremely active, but gained weight when high school ended and my world seemed to change. I have tried every diet and most exercise plans that have been out there only to realize I have some deeper issues then just what I eat. I am currently figuring out those issues, working on them and learning how to eat based on what I want and what my body needs.
I am down 40 pounds and would like to lose about 75 pounds more. I set a goal for myself at the beginning of this year to run one 5k a month even though up to this point in my life I never run due to severe asthma and a fear of running. Currently I have completed six 5k’s and have even dared to sign up for a half marathon in November. My wish is to share what I have learned, encourage others, share the success, the lows, the fears and know that none of us are alone in this journey of weight loss and discovery of who we are.

Think OUTSIDE the box when it comes to flavoring your veggies & salads. Spritz lemon juice over salad,s steamed, grilled or sautéed green vegetables of any kind: broccoli, snap peas, fresh spinach, asparagus, green beans, zucchini. For even brighter flavor, grate the rind of half a lemon using a microplane or zester, and add that to the dish. Season with garlic salt or sea salt and pepper, then, dig in!
